KDX fork conversion
I picked up so forks that I thought came off a 1993 kx500 but after bolting them onto the KDX the KX axle isn’t tight. I’ve posted some pictures to see if someone can help me identify them. [/img][/img]

Re: KDX fork conversion
Those are not Kawasaki KX 1990 - 1998 fork lugs. It kind of looks like 1999 or so, but the little ring portion makes me wonder.
Do you have any pictures besides that one?

Re: KDX fork conversion
Here you go. From looking at bikes is this maybe off a kx450?

Re: KDX fork conversion
After a little research, that's not 1999.
After seeing the pic, those are Showa, not KYB. You might want to look at Honda or Suzuki models. NOT Honda, Kawasaki or Euro.
Well, not KX two-stroke anyway. Maybe 2006 KX250F and newer, but definitely Showa top.

What does it say underneath the upper clamp?

Re: KDX fork conversion
Those are twin chamber Showa forks. They are off an '08-'12 Suzuki RM250F/450F.

Re: KDX fork conversion
Thank you for that. I'm surprised these bolted right up to my frame. Purchased new bearings and races, installed the onto the stem and installed it onto m kdx220 frame. Didn't have any issues until I started working with the kx500 axle.

SS109 is onto it. Look on Google or eBay for Suzuki RM250Z triple clamp bottom pics. They have that stamping.

Re: KDX fork conversion
The planet klx site used to have mechanical drawings for a sleeve to use the klx axle in the ‘91-? Kx forks. Not sure the difference in diameters between the kdx & klx axles but I think Brewster knows all about that mod. The old planet klx site might be still available in some form archived. At one time I had interest in doing that. Nice mod

Re: KDX fork conversion
Or you could just look for a Suzuki wheel on eBay. Shouldn’t be terribly expensive.

Re: KDX fork conversion
Yeah, I would just look for a Suzuki wheel also. Sell whatever doesn't fit to recoup what you can.

Re: KDX fork conversion
Yup, find a zuke wheel and axle if needed.
If those are set up right, you'll love them. I have Showa forks on my 200 and love them

Re: KDX fork conversion
I finally finished the conversion. Pretty easy swap and it’s looking good. I do like the feel of the new forks.
