If they are YZ250FX forks, I'd imagine they'll be off-road valving, not motocross valving, like the RMX250, CRF250X, and Yamaha's own 2-stroke YZ250X woods version of the YZ250 motocrosser.
If just plain YZ250 or YZ250F forks (motocross models), you can ride them on smoother off-road trails, but the ride quality will be significantly lacking compared to even stock KDX forks, unless you are riding warp speed with the class or a class racer skills to wear stiff suspension like that is needed to float through thin air in between the bumps. Take note that generally only young teenage & 20-something racers and aggressive trail riders in their 20's will be able to enjoy that kind of ride quality harshness for any duration.
