Hello,
I'm new to the forum and KDX's. Sorry to broach this subject yet again but I couldn't find any direct answer to this. I have found a set of forks and clamps from a 1996 KLX650R. I'm wondering if these are a direct bolt on replacement like the KLX300. Also will I need a wheel, axle and caliper or can I use mine for the KDX. Loving this forum thus far.

Welcome to kdxrider.net. Thanks for joining AND participating.
Check the steering stem stop location, but otherwise I think they should bolt right on.
The caliper is the same, so you can use the one you already have, but the hose routing is different due to the forks attachment points and guards. A few folks have made a little clamp to keep the KDX style routing.
Check KLX300R threads on the wheel. I can't remember right now.

Thank you for the response. I did previously check some of the oem part numbers and a lot of them are the same. I'll need to find out about the wheel, brake line mounting and fork guards.

Do the KLX650 forks have compression & rebound adjustments, or are they compression only?

yep, compression only, like KDX or other KLX forks
another thing that is different to 1990+ KX forks is the cartridge size. (just 20 mm for non-KX)
