actually no not at all Ive been working on dirt bikes for 40 years now and have been around some professional suspension shops and watched some videos even showing professionals using impact wrenches (very carefully) to remove the base valves and ive been doing this all of my years with no problems at all you will need a 14mm hex socket for that on later models yes its impressive to have all those cool looking tools but the truth is all you need is a couple of sockets a screw driver and a couple of metric wrenches and for valving changes a small grinder to remove the peen on the top of the nut thats it. oh and a tape measure the oil level Im not buying tools to impress anyone when i buy a tool I look for versatility and gets the job done with the least amount of money. My answer is absolutely not you dont need all those tools to work on these extremely simple forks. Ive been doing it for many years now and you can too. Happy trails!
