I'm wanting to take my kdx out and we've gotten a lot of snow really quickly I've got atleast a foot in the yard and snow drifts off the fields better than a few feet.these bikes good in snow or useless?

I've got brand new tires on it that are pretty agressive think ill be ok to ride after dinner tomorrow?one way to find out right?

Kinda sux but it beats the **** outa not riding at all

It's a helluva lot of huffin and puffin and you don't go very far

This day we went about 3 miles in around 4 hours

What a riot! Your tires don't look like they have studs on them, why not? I have been thinking of running a harescramble or two this winter, but only with studs. I watched the non-studded class last winter and it was a hoot, but not something I'd care to try.

i dont think studs will do wibbens any good when his bike is buried up the the case in snow!

20 more yards and we'd been out of the shade and no snow. But the further we went, the deeper it got. Eventually turned around, which was fun. Since each step we'd take went over the knees

Wow!we ain't gotten that much but looks like I shouldn't have any issues country cruisin out here.great pics!

I made a lot of rides on the ''new fresh snow'' with non-studded tires and this is fun. Too much snow will bring you in a situation like Wibby's pics. Now we ride all winter long with studded tires.

I would like so much a ''snow run'' race like sthutch is talking about! Michigan have a few ones to offer.

You pretty much need studs, or screws. Then it is fun.

Last year i saw a 450f cruising on my lake. The guy was doing wheelies for miles. I would LOVE to stud the tires on the kdx an join him this year but i feel like it would be too much work lol

1000 screws is about $65. After that all you need is a fridge full of beer, a radio, a few hours of time, and a screw gun.

The big 4 strokes are better suited to lake and pond riding than our KDX's, IMO. Long, high speed power slides and wheelies take a lot out of your motor. Not at all like woods riding. You can still have fun on the KDX, though...

pfft. I have little problem keeping up with a 450f anywhere we ride, including open roads.

I have no doubt of that, Julien. I just find the large 4 strokes more enjoyable to ride on the ice due to their power delivery and abundancy.
I have my KDX set up for winter woods riding, and if I head to the frozen lakes, I will take my DR650 (set up with screws).
The big DR is no fun at all in sloppy conditions.

Well I have a honda 4x4 that a cruise the lakes with. If i were to stud up the kdx it would have to be perfect conditions (little to no snow)

I hear ya. I've been out in snow and frozen ground on the KDX several times, but never been bothered with screws. I'd like to get me a winter tire and spare wheel to swap out in the winter time.
