Hybrid or Fork upgrade?

I'm trying to work out which of these is the best option, I've just bought a pair of forks (without triples) and have a spare engine.
Getting the work done is easy enough for either job. The hybrid sounds great, but the small tank is a big disadvantage to me, as I mainly ride with 4 strokes. I know I can get a larger tank, but I would have to import it which pushes the cost up considerably.
So I guess the question is how much better does a hybrid handle compared to a KDX with upgraded forks? Should I put my efforts into my present bike and keep the spare engine just in case?
