Does a 110/100 18 rear tire fit okay on a late model KDX? it looks like there is plenty of room. The stock tire is a 100/100 18. I just want to make sure before ordering one.
Thanks,

As far as I know a 110/100 18" rear tire should fit just fine.

Yep!

It'll change your gearing a tiny bit. Close to going 1 tooth smaller on the rear sprocket.

Tire brand has a lot to do with the tire size also. I have a Kenda Carlsbad 110-100-18 on my 04. It isn't much wider than the stock 100-100-18 Dunlop. I had a 110-100-18 Bridgestone on my 88 that rubbed on the swingarm until it wore a bit. Maxxis tires seem to be more narrow than other brands.

My rear tire is the stock size. Is there an advantage to going up to a 110?

Just think of it in terms on weight per sq/in on the ground.
A wider tire runs lighter per sq/in than a narrower one. That's why I can get through mud bogs with no problems and 4 wheelers (couches) can't.... they are not getting to the solid ground beneath and I am.

I have a Maxxis 6001 and it is definitely narrower than the tires I compared it to ( Dunlop 100/100, some Bridgestone and a Trakmaster). I think it was about 3/8 of an inch narrower.
1.85 rims usually have 100/100 tires and 2.15 rims have 110/100 or 120/100, I think. There is some info on the Dunlop site. I know other tire sites also have recommended tire sizes, too.
Fredette used to say run a 47 tooth on the '86 - '88 models in order to fit a 110/100 tire.
I helped wsjkawasaki work on his bike and someone had been running a 110/100 when he bought the bike. He replaced it with a 110/100 and has not complained of fit.

I run a 120 Bridgstone M5B. It works great and doesn't look any wider than any other tire I ran in the past. I went wider so I could run lower air pressure.
