Hi All,
My first post. I love the idea about building a woods hybrid. Has anyone used a WR 250? I have the chance of buying a 03 WR 250 with a blown engine for about a grand. I need to deside by tomorrow morning becauce there is someone else looking at it. Any input would be great.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a WR already a woods bike?

At least on this site, a hybrid is usually a KDX motor in a MX bike.

As long as the WR is a good woods bike suspension and motor wise, I think it would be cheaper and definitely easier to rebuild the blown motor. Now if the motor is a turd but the rest of the bike is great, then it might make sense to put a KDX engine in it.

I have always been one to stick with the brand. Kawasaki in kawasaki, Honda in Honda, Ford in Ford, ect ect ect. But thats just me.

Are we talking abOut a Husky WR250? If so, the chain and brake are on the oPposite sides from the KDX. You would need to modify the swingarm to accommodate a left-side chain and right-side brake.

Well it has a blown motor so I'd guess it's a 4-stroke. The yamaha. They are MX-based, but will have more woods-friendly susp valving. Rest of differences are lights, and differences in the motor. if it fits I'd say it'll be a fine bike!

The few times I rode a WR250 I found it to be heavy and slow. It could really use a light and lively motor like from a KDX!
