Exhaust options for '99-'02 frames and '95 and up motors

Got an '01 KX125/'00 KDX220 hybrid I built about a year ago. Got sidetracked due to several factors and am just now coming back to it. Bike was ridable when I put it away but the exhaust was pretty rigged together. I used a well used/abused KDX Gnarly Desert pipe and my stock KDX silencer for testing and it served it's purpose. Took quite a bit of heating/bending to fit as well as some custom hangers and an 8mm thick exhaust spacer at the pipe/exhaust port connection.

I'd just like to know what directions others took on pipe selections. The thought of buying new pipes to modify and potentially destroy is literally making me sick to my stomach. Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated, I have been very impressed with the builds posted here. I'm a machinist by trade and would be more than willing to trade expert advice and/or components (from you!) for some custom machine work.
