Why not turn down the KX stem to fit the kdx bearing?

KDX bearing fits over the first set of threads no problem, just hangs up on the castle nut threads

would just have to make new threads for the castle nut I'd think

Or is the stem too short?

Yeah looks like 1/4" shorter

even if the length is right you will not want to turn down because kx stem is of aluminim alloy and any reduction in diameter may cause a safety issue or reduce strength of the stem. I might be wrong...

Looks to me that it has plenty of meat, specially as little as would be needed to turn down
