Howling noise?

I have had a howling noise coming from the front of the bike. It has done it since I got the bike, no change from jetting, repacking, or gas mix. It only seems to do it during acceleration from about half to about full throttle? Any body else have this happen? I have boysen reeds fmf woods pipe turbin core 2 and the air box lid cut open. It will not do it sitting still and it has about 145 to 150psi compression. Any thoughts?

I'll bite, what about the clutch? the noise seems to be coming from the pipe. I have had the pipe off and cleaned it, it wasn't that bad but it was off. I also looked into the cylinder and it looked good on the back side and the piston looked good on the front side. I have done several compression test and they all were around 145 to 150 over the summer. :? I'm not ruling any thing out but the clutch is working good, good feel and engages good with no slippage.

You can only hear it under a load and during acceleration.

More likely a slipping clutch howling than it coming from your pipe, unless of course that is where the hamsters are located

Maybe it could use a new clutch. Thanks

I have tried a few different oils and didn't notice a difference. What do the rest of you use for brands and wt.

If it does it all the time it's probably a bearing

Usually, on my bike it will only howl while accelerating when the motor is fairly cold

But if you had an oil that's energy conserving it might do that

if you want you can try to take a long screwdriver, put it on the case and try to hear where the noise is come from...

you can also try with this : http://www.diseno-art.com/images_2/mech ... oscope.jpg

I'm trying to picture using a stethoscope under these conditions.

Thanks for the opportunity to offer a usefull comment
