Cleaning Outside Surface Of Forks.

The outside of my forks are kinda blackened up alittle where the old clamps were. What would be a good thing to use to clean the black smudge off?

How about some BarKeeper's Friend?
It's in the cleanser section of cleaners. Seems quite abrasive, but it's not. It's safe for polished metal.
No, I haven't used it to take black smudges off forks, but it's a great metal cleaner.
