Hey All,

We have a kdx 200 that has been completely rebuilt. In short when we bought it, after a couple rides found shavings in the oil, which lead to finding a spun main bearing. Now the rebuild is complete, 100% new bottom and top end(bottom end done by dealer). Carb has been completely cleaned as well.

When we tried to start it, we got one good response out of it where it tried to fire off. The rest of the time no offers. Pulled the plug and it looked ok, and also verified the spark looks good.

We are going to try and work with the carb on Tuesday, b/c we can't think of anything else it may be.

Any input will help. Also we verified the float level and that comes in within range.

If you have compression and spark and didn't fiddle with the spark timing, but did fiddle with the carb and you are getting fuel to the carb, make sure the carb idle screw is set in far enough to allow the fuel mixture to get in the engine during choke.

1. Make sure the timing marks are properly lined up on the stator.
2. Make sure the carb is 100% correct. (clean, float level etc...)
3. If you did the top end yourself, did you put the arrow on top of the piston facing forward?

@kawagumby - will check this as well.

@Griffbones -
1. will double check #1 on Tuesday
2. We are pretty confident on #2 but will double check
3. Yes the piston is facing forward.

thanks for all the input guys!

check also the electronic system. eg..igition coil, cdi, stator coil. lighting coil and VR dont effect starting so dun waste time on them. take out the spark plug but keep it connected to the igition coil and touch the spark plug lead to the top cylinder to check for spark, if it got spark, that mean the igition coil and stator coil should be fine. use a ohm meter to check the cdi for minimum current and voiltage. refer to service manual for that.
