i want to know the fork oil level fork my new set of kx 125 forks

I tried a search but couldn't find the right string. Can someone give us the 15 word tutorial here? I'd like to check (and maybe change) mine as well.

To check the level... Remove the forks from you bike... holding them upright... take the caps off, remove the spring, press the tubes all the way down... take your measurement.

Inda - you were over the 15 words but mighty close. The shorter version would have to go:

remove/upright/decap/despring/compress/measure.

I like yours better.

Hey one question though - if I compress the forks on the bike with the bike on a lift - would the tubes be close enough to vertical for a measurement?

you could be off a few mm. 120 is a starting point you could easily go as low as 110mm or as high as 130. remember the lower the number the higher the oil height.

what 120mm meen???? its a quantity or a distance
i'm rebuilding my kx 125 forks and the manual said to put around 500ml when changing oil....

You always set forks but measuring the air chamber.
In other words over fill the forks slightly and then suck out oil until you are at the desired air chamber height.
In this case 120mm was the recommended distance from the top of the tube down to the oil, with the springs out and the tubes collapsed of course.

Hey, maybe that's why my 97 KX125 forks feel so stiff. When the tech replaced the seals I had him set the air chamber at 100mm.

Right now the front end is sprung a bit after wheelie gone bad with a front end washout. When I get around to truing the forks back up I'm definitely going to 120mm. Maybe I won't need a revalve after all.

i have 99 KX 125 forks and iv rebuilt them numerous times...its 120 mm from the top of the fork...you have to get a syringe with a hose attached to the end of it and measure it 120mm from some sort of stop like a piece of metal or wood with a hole in the middle big enough to fit ontop of the fork...just somethin to hold the hose at the correct level above the fluid in the fork. fill the fork with fork oil and suck it out until it starts to suck air...your oil will be exactly 120mm from the top then...dont forget to pump the fork before you set the level....add some oil and cover the top with your hand and pump the fork a few times to force the oil everywhere.

so i finally finish my fork swap and my kx 125 front end is perfect !! i does a really good difference!
