Ok, it has me outsmarted. I get it partially on, but I cannot seem to get it to seat securely into the groove. Also the right side of the clip is bent out and doesn't seem to want to bend in to make it a rounder 'U' shape.

So, how do I get this:

Don't think my E has anything like that

The flat side of the clip lays across the slot in the brass barrel and the rounded side goes around the back side of the brass barrel. It holds the cable in place. If you are using an aftermarket cable, it may not have the necessary groove in it to make the clip work.

I actually just used safety wire for mine and it works just fine.
