Why is my new email address banned?

I have a new email address, but when I attempt to change it, a message says it is banned. What causes this, and what can I do about it? I did a quick search in the forums and FAQs and didn't find anything. If I missed it, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks moderator god!

If it's gmail that's why.
gmail accounts for 90% of all spam accounts.

Are you serious? So you banned all gmail accounts? I had to start a whole new email account just to register. It's all good now, it's just a pita, cuz I'll never get an email from the site.
