piston question

thanks for the god advice on the forks. cayn and zomby woof got me thinkin i should change the piston first. It is a 2005 220r. wiseco seems like the wise choice, is there any performance gains from the piston swap since im going to keep the bore standard? By the way, what is the R designation on the 220R mean?

Re: '..performance gains from the piston swap...'
Not sure what your point is. The swap is done because the OEM (Pro-X) 220 piston is a grenade waiting to blow up. It's not done for a performance enhancement.
Although...I guess continuing to run is an 'enhancement' over a big hole in the bottom of the case and not running at all ever again.
Depending on how the bike has been ridden and maintained a piston swap would be an improvement as a repair of any wear, ring stick, and such.
Maybe yours has already been changed. I don't know if the exhaust side of the skirt looks different 'tween a Pro-X and Wiseco..something that you could tell by looking into the exhaust port.
For that matter..what the difference in appearance is on the intake side.
Seems that's been a question before. If there was an answer to it, I don't recall what it was.
Anyone here with pics of their Wiseco next to the OEM Pro-X?
Point being...you could tell by looking without taking too much off/apart.
'R' on the 220 stands for 'We Todd Did'.
...the 200 isn't.

A Wiseco has 2 rings... a Pro-X has one. (On mine anyway.... someone told me that ain't the case... kinda like with my pipe) Maybe mine is made by FMF.
The "R" just means "second" as in second to the 200.

Both my pro-x pistons have 2 rings. Strange if yours had only 1....

Dang canyn, that was funny! whats worse is it took me a minute to figure out what the hell we todd did was. My wife got a kick out of it. She calls me short bus. It seems like there is a little dissention in the ranks between the 200s and the 220 riders, cant we all just get along?

Sure. We get along just fine.
The 200 riders ride...when they get 'there' they wait....then the 220 riders come along....and then we get along.

Absolutely not! It provides too much entertainment. The 220 guys haven't even chimed in yet! Wait for it...

Not sure what your point is.
Read the post, and you might figure out that he's asking a question, not trying to make a point.

'R' on the 220 stands for 'We Todd Did'.
...the 200 isn't.

But their riders are, otherwise they'd be riding 220's

If there is a dubious 'point' to the question, then I am unsure what the point IS!
'Performance gains' is the dubious part. Does the question have to do with compression increase? Weight reduction? Forged over OEM cast?
I didn't know.
Which is why I didn't get the point of the question.
I didn't say there wasn't one..just that I didn't GET what it was.
Please.....do TRY to keep up.
We'll wait for 'ya!

The "R" stands for a Japanese phrase that roughly translated means "Reprace piston".

There was nothing dubious in the OP's question. Merely a desire for knowledge.
Managing to simultaneously belittle the OP, all 220R owners AND mentally challenged in one post - that's dubious..... at best.

Well, johnny boy...I'm sorry you're too dense to understand basic English..let alone a further explanation of what was simple enough to understand in the first place.
If you think anything said had anything to do with belittling, then the fragile sense of your own self you evidently have is not capable of withstanding the light of day, let alone anything said
with such intent.
Heavens to Murgetroyd. Can you possibly be that frail and insufferable? Indeed, such a prig?
So, please expound oh righteous one

: Exactly what is the correct answer to the question regarding performance gains resulting from a piston swap? Please do be specific.
Nothing about the question possibly gives rise to any uncertainty! Of course that cannot be so....THAT (giving rise to uncertainty) being a
definition, moron, of 'dubious'.
...the meaning of the word having absolutely nothing to do with your attempted use of it.
No soup for you!

You guys are a couple of racists..obviously and most undubiously.
What would you have to say to an asian mentally challenged 220R owner.....that even had the incredible gall to originate a post?
Hhhmmm?
