Hello,
I am wondering will a light honing to renew the crosshatching so the rings bed in better ruin the Nikasil lining? I have only ever worked on engines with iron cylinders. What is the procedure you guys normally follow when intalling a new piston and rings.
Thanks,
Rick

I always tell people to just scrub the bore with a Scotch-Brite in warm soapy water. It is not recommended to hone plated cylinders, but if you do it, you need to use a very precision mandrel hone.

Spring loaded shoe types of hones can chip and damage the plating around the port areas....

The green ones work well, and you can get them at the grocery store :)
