The kick starter spring will not stay located inside in it's locating hole when I try to place the cover back on.

It simply clicks out.

Is this a sign of weak spring or what else?

how do i get the leg of this sping to stay put in it's locating hole?

I had the same problem. It would stay in place until I would place the cover back on then it would pop out. All I can say is keep trying and try your best not to bump the spring.

thanks jeb - i was successful in locking this spring pawl in it's mounting hole.

I massaged the spring with pliers and wiggled and rotated it so that the pawl was more in a straight line with hole.
