KDX250 float level adjustment

I read a float height article on canadian daves forums:

http://www.dirtrider.net/justkdx/floatlevel.html

Does anyone know if the 16mm float height would pertain to a 91 KDX250 as well? (I ordered the 250 Supplement manual but it hasn't arrived yet).

Thanks!

Float level height is common knowledge here.... no need to link to that site.

There are a few KDX250 owners here that could probably chime in and give you the specs.

Sorry about that no disrespect meant, I was just refering to the article to the manner of measuring the height. I am new to working on 2 strokes and wasn't sure if this was the common way of doing it.

Re: '..if this was the common way of doing it.'

Not for me...but I'm not common.

(I say....thass'a joke, son)

I'm not saying that's a good thing anyway.

Rather than fuss with the angle of the carb and whether or not the pin is being depressed or not, I slip a finger under the float on an upside down carb until the pin just clears the tab, then drop it back 'til it touches.

Don't know about the 16mm part on a KX. The WAY of doing it is the same, TPS carb or no. Adding a couple of mm is fairly common...keeps the KDX from peeing when on a (probably wonky/bent) kickstand.

Not that you prolly have to worry 'bout that.

Ask skipro3. He rides a KX. He might remember where the carb IS on the thing. The float spec? :hmm: Maybe he'll s'prise us and remember that, too!

Where are you getting KX out of the thread CC?

The first and third letters of the model, 'fer crine' out loud.

Where else? Where'd YOU get 'em?

oops

I read just the '250' part of it.

Now then...about that Thai martini..........

So what goes into a Thai martini? fish sauce? peanut? :)

Thanks for the info CC, that is exactly what was happening to me. I just bought the KDX and the kickstand is pretty bent and it was leaking. I will try your method.

Is there a good method of bending the kickstand back? I could just start wacking it in a vice but I figure I might weaken the joint

I usually had better luck 'fixing' the kickstand on the bike..like lean it over and stand on it.

The bracket that bolts to the swingarm...I never had a lot of luck changing the angle of the OEM steel piece.

...which is why mine is now aluminium!!

Re: 'So what goes into a Thai martini? fish sauce? peanut?'

This board has all sorts of good info on it. Even Thai Martini recipes!

So, since you ignored Ski, what were you doing in Kansas?

I did NOT!

His post was just past my nighty-night time is all.

I weren't in Kansas.

He is (was?) operating under the mistaken impression that KA is the postal abbreviation for Kansas. Kansas is KS. KA is the postal code for a country bordering the US of A on the southwest..at times referred to as 'Northern Mexico'. Its borders largely include what was formerly known as California, then Kahliforniah, now known as Kalifornistan.

Ah, so now I know. And here I was feeling slighted that you went to Kansas and didn't stop by. I also didn't know they had postal codes down that way. Figured that gummut was too corrupt to move mail to any location other than their own hidey hole.

Does anyone know what the fuel level (not float level) should be for a '97 KDX 200?

Thanks
