I was recently able to get my hands on a 96 KX500 forks with triple tree and the front wheel/tire/disc, however it will not be coming with the front axle. I have not received the items yet so I don't know what other parts the front tire will have with it such as bearings, seals etc.

I've been looking on ebay for the front axle but I am unsure what axles are compatible. I've looked on the kawasaki site under parts diagrams, different years, 125s, 250s, 500s and they all seem to have the same part number 41068. What axle will be compatible with the 96 KX500 front wheel or where can I look to figure this out?

A 125 front axle probably will not work, but a 250 might. Then again, it might not. Best bet would be to check part numbers through a parts fiche and see which ones are the same part number. You have a good starting point by means of a list of what is readily available to you. So you can check the fiche for that bike as compared to the fiche for a 96 KX500 and see what does/doesn't match.

I bought a 98 KX125 wheel for a spare. It came with the axle and it is identical, spacers and all, to an 03 KX500 axle. So that era 125 wheels/axles will fit nicely with kx500 forks. 250 axles will work also from that era, but the spacers are different (I owned an 01 KX250 at the time I did a USD conversion using using 03 KX500 forks).
