Yes, I can.

But...what kind of bearing are you going to get? NSK? They've always been a good bearing. Don't know if that still holds true what with them opening a plant in India. Koyo's good.

If it's a Chinese bearing..you're wasting your time, and I'll bet that's what would come from AutoZone. ...if they even had such a bearing.

For one thing..the bearing number is ON the bearing.

For another, it's on any online fiche:
92047-017 RACE,ROLLER,32005JR RS

That from the Kawasaki site.

Third, a top stem bearing in my hand is a 32005J.

Rocky mtn. is going to be Chinese? All Balls?

Do as you wish..but they won't work well. If you ride 2-4 times a year I don't suppose it matters.

If ordering them was mentioned, I'd have strongly recommend getting them from CBR. He sells nothing but quality stuff...and that's certainly not Chinese.

Something does come to mind about trouble getting those bearings. I checked a number of local bearing wholesale outfits a few years back..they could get the bearing, but NOT with the attached seal.

I don't know that CBR carries them. I've gotten steering stem bearings from them for my Honda, but those come with a separate seal. A rider on this forum years back found a source for the sealed bearing, but that was some kind of inside deal, I think. Came from someone that knew someone that could talk to someone that got the real stuff, man.

I know CBR sells quality merchandise..but it would take a call or an email to 'em to find out if they have the sealed units.

Wherever they come from, the job is worth getting quality bearings to start with. 'Natch, OEM parts is another option.

I've never had bad luck with all balls either.

The top bearing is a Timken # 07097, I forget the outer race number, not sure if you are wanting to replace that as well (advisable)

The thing is, that bearing size is readily available from a bearing supply house but NOT with the attached seal/cup thingy. I doubt AutoZone will have that bearing at all.

If you just got to go, the unsealed would work for a number of rides.

I think OEM is the way to go for a permanent fix.

My all balls steering head bearings came with a separate seal for the upper/lower bearings. It's a bit different in design from OEM, but fits just fine and seems to seal up nicely.

Tapered roller bearings are matched sets. While it is indeed possible to replace the inner race and rollers and NOT the outer race, as stated, that is not adviseable.

It is stupid in addition to not being adviseable.

Anyone that likes AB bearings is more than welcome to any opinion they want to have. I haven't used every AB bearing there is in every application there is. The AB bearings I have used did work, but at a 1/3-1/4 the useable life of better bearings.

Whatever makes you and your bike happy tickles me. Well...that and I could not possibly care less.

Oh come on now, you could care a LITTLE bit less.

I strongly concur on replacing races with bearings. Seems foolish to do it any other way. The old races were not that bad to remove, and new ones quite easy to install.

I can't claim to have used all balls for 7 years like Mr Wibbens up there, but I can say we've used them in several different bikes now in different locations, and one 89 yz250 throughout the entire bike. Everything fit well, and everything works well to this point. I'll keep an eye on the lifespan though.

You may want to make note of this date on the calendar as just possibly the first time you have been mistaken.

Tell you what..you make that note on YOUR calendar, on my calendar I will make a similar note. 'Cept mine will be, '..just possibly the first time I know for absolute surety that I am NOT mistaken!'

LMAO!!! :D

I might indeed write something on my calendar. I'm not sure what It will be though, since I can assure you this would not be the first time I've been mistaken. I'd wager I'm mistaken nearly as often as I'm not mistaken. One of these days it will be me owing you that kewpie doll.
