Lead additive

Another fuel question. Has anyone experimented with a lead additive with there KDX?
Since the lead additive is a lube in the fuel was wondering if it would minimize wear and tear a bit and be a overall help

TEL was used primarily as an octane booster.
If that's what you're after, use an aromatic hydrocarbon.. like toulene.
My answer to your question, though, is, 'No.'

I used lead additive in an old outboard motor, an early 60's antique model. The lead additive just fowled the plugs and eventually I had to dump the gas.

The lead additive in gasoline was to help the valve and valve seat interface live longer on 4 cycle engines.
When lead additives were removed from gasoline the automobile manufactures when to an insert valve seat to compensate for the lack of lead. Prior to this valve seats were machined into the base material which made up the head.
The lead additive was always an determent to a 2 cycle engine IMO due to the easier fouling of spark plugs.
Just trying to keep some facts straight in the old brain.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuummmmmmmmm! I got to disagree.
Lead in fuel ups the octane rating, it also has the ability to resist detonation and/or pre-ignition with "high" compression 2 smoke engines.
Lead is pretty much needed to build a "high compression" 2 smoke engine to run with the bigger thumpers.
Remember the hub-bub at the end of the 2 smoke vs 4 stroke battles and the fuel penalties against Reed and a few others for running lead in their 2 smoke fuel? It was a FIM rule adopted by the pantie waisted AMA that helped destroy the smokers even more.
But, the penalty was dropped against RC for have'n lead in his thumper fuel.
Lead is a benefit in 2 stroke "performance" but for us weekend warriors...........99.9% don't know how to jet a bike so running lead will do us about as much good as wearing RC boots and expecting to win a race..

Very true old timer!!! but still wouldn't add lead additve to pump gas...Would go w/ tolulene as mentioned. Big difference between pump gas laced with lead and VP C12/14/16 which are great 2T racing fuels that happen to be leaded.
