Engine size question

Recently bought a kx125 hybrid and was told it had a 99 220 kdx engine in it.Is there a way I can tell the difference between a 200 and a 220?
Is there a engine size stamped somewhere,I looked around the engine but cant see anything.

If it is a KDX the stamp should be on the bottom of the case. Can't remember if it is shifter side or brake, shifter I think. Just look at the 'dog ear' and it should be in sight.

Yes, there is.
Look on the RH side of the cylinder where the reed cage is. You see on a 200:
'.198 L'...198cc.
I don't know what the 220 actually is..but it's not 198cc.

I seen a DX cast into the bottom case by the shifter,does that mean anything?

Found the engine size,its a 200 engine.Should I be dissapointed? would some of you rather have a 220.I was kind of leaning towards a 220 becouse it has so much more torque.Will a 220 jug just bolt right up with no other mods?Sorry bout all the questions but I feel like Ive just been thrown a big curve.

They're different..that's for sure.
200 riders generally prefer 200s. 220 riders generally prefer 220s..but they're just mentally disoriented.
The 200 can run just fine torque-wise..but require some modification to get there. The 220 is a better bottom-end puller out of the box, certainly.
You can make a 200 run as well as the 220 on the bottom...but you can't make a 220 run as well as a 200 on the top end. While I consider that a true statement...I didn't come up with it. Eric Gorr did.
You would be better off choosing the model you want based on what it is you intend to do with it.
The 220 has a grenade for a piston waiting to go off. The 200 doesn't have that problem. That's a plus in your case.

Im a single track rider thats why I was looking for torque.The bike does have the RB carb mod and fmf woods pipe.I guess it might be ok.Im taking it out on a full run this weekend,I will see the difference between the Hybrid and my WR250.Im really looking forward to riding a two stroke again.

You'll love the 200. It's the perfect all around engine for trails and single track, with enough top end to keep you smiling.

It will out pull the WR250 (4-stroke) off idle me thinks. If you want to go 220, just have a 225cc made out of your 200....This way the porting is 'correct'

Also, it should be stated that a 200 w/ DFIII reed cage, RB cut head, and RB modded carb will pull off the bottom like crazy, and rev out up top like a 125....Without touching the cyl.
The ever generic 'rule' of 2 vs 4 dictates that the WR would need 400cc's to roll w/ the KDX

yeah, just ride your bike. I doubt you'd think the expense of going to a 220 cylinder, head, and piston were worth the expense and trouble.

Shoot, I'd be thrilled just to have a KDX motor in that 125 chassis. Either one would really make that bike a hoot!

OK just got back,I think ill be allright

This thing really pulls,doe'nt rev out like a regular two stroke but I LOVE IT.Now I see what you guys are talking about,I never did get used to the engine braking of a four stroke(hated that)The suspension seems to be set just right for me and with the kx125 frame is so light,it seems that I can make the bike do just about anything.One thing I did notice after I added about 800ml of F type tranny fluid the tranny seemed to be slightly grinding,It did'nt do that when I took it for a test ride.Maybe im going to try different tranny fluid.Anyways thanks so much for all youir help every one.
