hey all
i recently purchased a 93 kdx 250.
i got it running(very poorly)and the engine oil turned to a lovely shade of whitish pink from red.
i assume it is a head gasket but i inspected it and found it not damaged(its a thin metal shim )could it be a cylinder gasket or water pump seal instead
any help would be greatly appreciated also if the head was not torqued down correct would that cause water in the oil

More than likely the waterpump seal... change the oil a few times and it may clear up if it has been sitting quite a while...

Any oil in the water?

not sure because it had no water left in the radiators when i drained the oil
it was sitting for a while i believe

My vote is for water pump seal as well. Pretty common failure on these bikes, and easily remedied.

ok went to the bike shop and ordered the water pump seal,i explained to the guy what parts came out and what order(should have taken the whole side case in not just the shaft with the bearings etc)
he said i wwas missing a weight governer another piece that goes on before the impela.
is he yanking my chain because it didnt look like it had been taken apart before!
any pics u guys have of a disassembled water pump would help immensly
also there is a hole in the bottom of the case under the water pump,im pretty sure the manual called it a weep hole but not 100% sure.

sorry for all the q's have not got my hands on a manual yet

If you go to bike bandit, and look up the side covers schematic, you can see all the bits and pieces that go in there.

I'd bet the SR is no different (in this area).
