For those of you getting ready for winter, a few samples of the riding we enjoy year 'round where I live. Fairly typical Hawaii riding....

Hmmm....Not sure what you meant by better, but it actually gets a lot worse. River crossings and slimy hills are common.

How many bikes come out alive ?

They all come out one way or another if it's during an organized race.

If it's just a trail ride, once in a great while you have to leave a bike out there if it can't be repaired on the trail or dragged/walked out. Most times they all come out a little more banged up but really no worse for wear. I am constantly amazed at just how much abuse a motorcycle can take.

It's good to have 4 + guys out on a ride.....Even without mechanical difficulties there's a lot of dragging and wrestling bikes around on the wet days.

Bikes do take a pretty good beating out here....You really have to stay on top of your maintenance routine. Guys with the money get new bikes every 2 or 3 years.

The old 2000 KDX 220 is still going strong! :supz: Seems like most guys I talk to out here have owned one at one time or another and always comment that it's a great bike for the type of riding we do.

Orange seems like the most popular brand out here for serious trail work. Guys I ride with are all on pumpkins except for one sick Gas Gas hybrid (Pamapera trials motor swapped into a Gas Gas 125 mx frame). The thing chugs over or through anything.

It's a pretty crazy bike. He had a local shop build it for him. It's got a striaght pipe exhaust (like trials or 4 stroke) so there are no worries of smashing the expansion chamber on something. Full Ohlins suspension, rear trials tire, etc. The thing is amazing.
