California bike rentals

I plan on visiting family in ventura california sometime between january and may and would like try some of the trails in that area. Whats the best way to go, finding a park that rents decent bikes or finding a place that rents bikes and taking to a decent park.
Of course everybody here is invited, I just need to find out where and when I'm going.
