A moment of insanity...

They say insanity is genetic...you get it from your kids...

So my son asks me what i want for Christmas, of course I tell him a KTM 300 EXC-E elecrtic start...

Was that my outside voice?

Sorry...I told him I didn't want anything. He gave me a choice between a new set of Acerbis hand guards or he'd have my head mod'd by Ron.

Well THAT's a no brainer.

So sez he, why don't you go ahead and get the carb mod'd too?

Nah I sez, I wasn't planning on ever getting the mod's done at all cuz I'm happy with how it runs now...well sort of. As I get better at more technical riding I am starting to notice a slight lack of power at times. It could be that big ol' 4.50 x 18 MT 16 on the rear or maybe it my big ol' belly...prolly BOTH, anyways...

Using that logic I finally caved and grabbed the carb off the bike (hell it was easy) and we took it down to Ron and dropped it off.

I figure "what the hell?" might as well live a little. Merry Christmas to me!

I got to meet the man himself, he answered the door in a T shirt and sweats, sneakers and an earring. I told him that he was quite the celebrity, at least amongst us on this site. He said we way over rate his work. He's a very humble guy but after seeing the results of his work on Waz Jr's bike I'd have to say he don't know his own strength

So in a moment of insanity inspired by my own flesh and blood I guess I'll have all the cool mods.

Thanx to Ron for offering it done by weeks end but I don't need it till after the first.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Yea, but did you get a Christmas card from him?

When you go pick up your carb, take a camera and snap a photo or two. I wanna see what a celebrity looks like. Ha!!

If he's not allergic to cameras I'll see if he will agree to being photographed.

He's a nice guy but you know how celebrities are...leary of paparazzi...

Just ask Britney Spears!

I may have to sneak a shot though the shop window from the tree next door....

I know I sure as hell would shoot someone peeking in my windows with a camera: Although it would be nice to put a face to a name.

The description giving of Ron at the start of this thread had me invisioning a clone of CC. So that is the vision that is going to stay in my head until such time as a photo of Ron appears in a thread. Now if THAT doesn't scare Ron then what will??

Maybe Blackmail  - I think a photo of Mr. Black would also make those of us that DID NOT GET CHRISTMAS cards forgive him!! What say you? :supz:

IC, pretty easy to send someone else......to face the live rounds.

You've been an officer?

Maybe we should give RB the chance to *submit* a photo...before we commit troop(s) to action?

This has certainly turned into an intellectual discussion, has it not?

Comparing him to CC won't help you get a card, ya know!

Did you go in on a Friday and he said by weeks end??

I shipped Ron my 200 head for a race gas cut and ordered a
Air Striker as well.
I shipped from Michigan a week ago monday and received it back
the following monday.
Thats what I call FAST turn around.
I think he received it on wednesday afternoon and it was back in
the mail thursday for the return trip.
It sure is nice to look at. I put the head on last night and ran it around
the yard in 2 foot of snow for a second and put it away before I got hurt.
I'm waiting to put the Air Striker on until I can test just the head mod.

Merry Christmas Everyone !!

I was there late last Tuesday afternoon. He's very fast. He has quite a shop in his little garage. He must do something besides KDX heads!

He can do a head same day...a carb mod takes a little longer. Yours was an already a finished product...or did he give your carb the Air Striker mod?

Either way he's good...

BTW I got off my sons mod'd KDX before I hurt someone or myself too! There is quite a difference!

Oh and...I'll ask him before I post any pictures!

Well I picked up the parts and put them on...

WOW!

What a difference! Popped right to life on the second kick...sounded absolutely bad a$$, must be the increased compression.

And the new jetting was spot on!

Thank you Ron, I can't say I didn't know that the KDX had it in it but WOW...I wasn't quite ready for the change. It was all I could do to keep the front wheel on the ground.

Soon I will try and find that second sweet spot and I'll be anxious to take it up in the hills here when the weather breaks.

Big bang for a few bucks, two thumbs way up...
