I think the Kawa AlumaCool is the same stuff they put in them from the factory. I read on 'the other site' that materials (silicates?) in Prestone-ish coolants can damage the seals in the water pump, so I plan to switch back to AlumaCool this weekend before heavy warm-weather riding starts.
As for air filter maintenance, you'll be hard pressed to find a better method than NoToil...you can clean it in your sink with no problem (or kerosene smell).
For the tranny oil, I think the important thing is to pick a weight consistent with the service manual recommendation, and to change it regularly.
Haven't tried the other stuff, but be advised that you'll open up a can of worms when you ask 'what oil is best'. A few people use Bel-Ray but most swear it messes up their engine. (How bad can it be when Team Green uses it???) I actually know a guy who runs something called "Opti100" and he has ran it 100:1 in his KDX200 for almost 10 years! And he hasn't done a top end yet because his compression is still within service manual specs!

Thanks for the reply and advise.
Lets sit back and let the worms squirm!
It would be interesting to have the leading brands for the oils and lubes listed in a poll type format, aswell as the coolants and every day/ride products, ie CRC or WD40 etc.
This could then be fomulated into a chart for a quick reference for us "dummies"
as we are all KDX fans and freinds it should make for a good couple of days reading.

if prestone damages my water pump seal i will change it. it's in the car too so uh oh. i used to run the amsoil 2000 but now run the amsoil interceptor. run/ran them both at 40:1. i was going to do an annual topend but the compression is still 190 so i figure why bother.

i agree on the notoil. its the stuff to use.
i used to run amsoil syn 5w-30 in the crankcase ( same as car) but have recently switched to valvoline max life atf and like it pretty well
