Got bored of writing a grad school paper today and decided to do something fun, like revalve my forks! These are 2001 KX125 forks from my 2000 KDX200.
Here is the stock valving in the base valve:

I am confused by the shims after the 11, they don't seem to match other setups I have read about. What do they do? Regulate the flow through the bleeder? I am going to remove all but 4 of the 24's and leave the rest alone. Any other suggestions?

I am going to remove the bladders (and mod the RB) and look at the midvalve next.

Now I am clueless on the midvalve, none of the numbers are similar to what Bradf's doc says, maybe that just means his setup is fairly custom.

So far it seems to work pretty good for me (170 lb w/o gear)
I tried to match Bradf setup as close as I could (some shims were missing from stock).

What were your stock stacks?

I am missing the "bleeder" shim in the midvalve, not sure what is up with that. what about the shims on lower side of the 11's in the basevalve?

the way i understand it is that they act as a 11 diameter shim of the same thickness because that is all the surface area contacts is the 11 diameter. so basically just used to take up space.

This is what was there for stock, and obviously was already custumized for the previous owner.

I also don't have an o-ring or cup on the midvalve.

What about the 25mm shims on the bottom of the basevalve stack? It looks like they restrict the bypass flow.

Well if you are still running stock valving in your KX forks, revalve them. I did mine last week and rode on them this weekend. Night and day difference from the stockish valving I had. I don't cringe before hitting rocks and roots anymore, way more comfortable.

I took out 3 24's from the basevalve, the midvalve is still a work in progress since I was missing some parts from it. Check my bike profile for my valving setup.
