Hey all just thought i would share a few things..
From what I have read 110 link chains are stock for the kdx's (states in the manual) on a 13/47 config, from what i have read on here a 108 is advised on a 12/47 setup which i have. I put my new chain on last night to find there is no way 108 links will fit.. to short! so 110 links was perfect with the snail adjusters on 2 1/2. Just wondered on what a good slack for the chain is from what I can tell its pretty good. pic is below.

Per the manual: bike on side stand, grab middle of the upper run of chain (at the rear of the chain slipper). Rotate rear wheel to find where chain is tightest (wear will be uneven). Adjust for 55-70mm (2.2-2.8").

Thanks for sharing about the # of chain links - I'll be switching to a 12-tooth sprocket some time as well!

To put it simply...you are wrong....for 'H' model KDXs anyway. You didn't mention that part.

I've run 108links for the bike's whole life. I've run 12/13 and 47 toothed sprockets.

Either you counted incorrectly (you're wrong) or your chain is longer than OEM..(108)...and you're still wrong.

Now....you can be wrong all you like and it doesn't bother me one way or t'other. The problem is posting it as being right and everbody ELSE is wrong.

While that situation may indeed be true sometime...it ain't true this time.

OEM chain is 108. OEM sprocket set is 13/47. OEM chain will fit fine on a 12/47 setup.

Period.

Obviously the E series are different from H Models. as 110 links are stated in the manual on a 13/47 setup. I did not mean to come across that everyone is wrong i was just saying thats the way mine was. all good though as long as it works!.

If you run 110 links on an 'H' model with a 12/47..you're going to run out of snail room.

Who knows what those down under SR models do..........

Jeb doesn't run an SR...I think.

Something smells fishy here. Maybe a swingarm length issue between H vs E models ??

55 side plates is 110 links, correct ??

Ahem CC, the picture clearly shows a E series.

Yeah i agree CC 108 makes sense with a 12 tooth sprocket. but if i cut at 108 i would have had to take the snail adjusters off to make it fit.
May bee the swing arms are longer.. dunno just a thought

Yeah. Something is fishy....but I'm not going to let it keep me awake tonight (Sunday night...way past for SR folks........)

The point was..54 is correct for the 'H' model. If 55 fits fine for an 'E' model...that's fine, too.

But put 110 on an 'H'..and there are going to be some problems.

55 plates including the master is indeed 110 links. But..if you ORDER 110 links..that's not what you count on the chain before you put the master IN.

Yep i ordered a 120 link chain, and just cut it from there.

I counted a total of 54 sideplates last night including, of course, the master link. 'Stock gearing . . .

SR? Street Ready? 'Not real sure what SR even stands for . . . no, just checked. I thought I would find "EW" for Eastern Woods but it's an "A" model, and "A10" to be precise. They must have completely started over on the alpha-numberic sequencing when they started manufacturing the 220s - you know, the new & improved model.
