2002 KX 250 pegs modified for a 89 KDX 200 (E Series)

Did a little cutting and bending today and managed to get a pair of 2002 KX 250 pegs mounted up to my 89 KDX 200.
It turned out to be a pretty straight forward process. The pivot shaft that the KX pegs use is the same diameter as the one for the KDX pegs. I had to trim off part of the collar on the pegs and rebend the springs to make it work. My pivot shafts are pretty grooved so they need to be replaced, which should take most of the slop out of the peg assembly. I can't wait to give them a try on the trail. I previously had a pair of DRZ400 pegs that were modified to work. They were the same size as the stock pegs but had actual teeth left on them. KanuckKDX if you want the DRZ pegs your welcome to them, drop me a PM if you are.

The only draw back is they are not as strong as the KDX pegs first ride out I bent the 04 KX pegs on a rock. I am now considering a set of RM pegs they are much more heavy duty than the KX pegs.

We don't usually see that much rust here in Arizona.

All that beautiful rust was on the bike when i bought it 5 years ago. The wonders of a coastal bike. Everything rusts here. Hopefully going to strip it down and repaint this winter though so it should be shiny and new before long.

If these ones get borked i've got a pair of KTM pegs that i'll modify next.

I'll have to see if YZ ones will fit. They're made of unobtainium.

I am curious about where you guys get these pegs and in such good shape? I am going to head into my local bike wrecker and see what he has, but are there other sources I should be checking out?
I am capable of trying to modify some pegs - although sometimes I wish I could weld.

I'll be looking for my OEM 220 carb in the majic box...as soon as I find said box. I believe I have a set of 2002 KX 250 Moose Stainless pegs and a set of OEM 2002 KX250 pegs in the mysterious box of stuff. If anyone wants to make thier attempt at this mod, throw some bones to Vince for the site up keep and cover shipping, and I'll get the OEM ones out to ya.

If I were to do this again with the E series KDX's i'd leave the collar on the foot pegs and find a pair of springs that would fit over the collar and then heat and bend them to work. The extended collar would provide a little more side to side support on the pivot shaft.

The 'E' series peg springs are much more straightforward mount-wise than the 'H' series springs.
But...your spring appears to have only one wrap to it? That seems less than suitable.
Any peg swap to an 'H' is going to be problematic when it comes to using the 'H' springs.
..Guess you don't have to use the 'H' springs...
I need to get that done myself. I've replaced my OEM pegs once or twice. They get immediately smushed again it seems, so they're always in a state of disrepair.
What is the answer to, 'Where do you guys get all these good cheap pegs?'

There are two wraps on that spring. There were originally three but I broke the spring the first time I was bending it into a new shape to work with the pegs. The other side has all three of its wraps.
Looking at a couple of pictures its hard to tell but do the H springs sit outside the cradle in front of the peg?

Yes, if I understand correctly.
Sorry...not trying to be obtuse..but I swear, English is ever more often apparent to be my third language..
Like:
' I preview emails and if a reply is requested or required then I delete.'
It's clear to me what that says...and what it probably was SUPPOSED to mean. How about 'Words mean things'..and speak accordingly!!??
OK...I digress...
They do sit outside the cradle as I recall (I'm doubting everything I've ever seen, too). There is a hole IN the peg that the bent end of the spring is inserted into. The spring has to be somewhat chinese-puzzled around to fit in the peg, around the frame and in the pin.
Remember awhile back there was a question by someone, 'How do these things go on??!!' No, it's not brain surgery, but it can be puzzling.
Especially if you're trying to put the right spring on the left side!!
Heck...or the right PEG on the left side!!

So couldn't you just drill a new hole in the KX pegs and re-use the H springs?

..if the spring tab has a place to seat against the more-complex (three row) peg.
I'm sure it could be sorted out.
Tell me where to get a set of cheap 3-row pegs and I'll let 'ya know!
Oh...and throw in the fitment info for a KX rear brake lever, too!
I'm tired of trying to think........

I used the H springs on my brothers H and KX pegs. Yes I ground the collar off too.... easy to fit once you start the process. Had to drill a new hole now that I think about it... but it was easy....

OK well here goes. H model pegs and H model springs bolt straight onto an E series. I have KX IMS pegs and they have the hole pre drilled for the spring to sit in. Plus no collar to be found on the IMS pro series KX pegs.
Oh Brad, ebay of course....
