I'd use the Cometic gasket.

I've used both, and no, hadn't noticed.

Just measure it and find out! It would be interesting to put in the 'stack-o-stuff' of common knowledge.

IF it IS thicker, I'd bet the compression differences would be in the two digit precision range...maybe three. That is to say it matters little.

I should have clarified, i'd order a thinner oem gasket if need and use the cometic gasket until it arrives.

Maybe the Cometic one compresses more when the head bolts are torqued? Just a thought.

re: 'I thought getting the head shaved was the ticket on 220s.'

No.

'Adjusting' the squish band and increasing the static compression ratio is.

Not to be picky...but simply removing metal from the bottom on the head is the smallest part of 'the ticket'.

I've got a 220. When I got the head (and carb) back from RB I put it all back together with a cometic gasket set. I think the gasket may look a little thicker, but it should if your comparing it to the used one. I didn't notice anything negative from a performance point of view.

What I did notice is that the bike ran sooooo much better with the RB work. Your going to be a happy camper.

And if you're not, it's 'cuz there is something wrong with YOU (or something you did wrong)..so we don't want to hear about it.
