Is it ok to use Shell Rotela T 15-40w in the trans?
This is my first 2-stroke in years.

Does it say energy conserving on its label? If so your not going to want to use it in your gearbox. Otherwise give it a try.

I have been using Rotella synthetic in my trans works fine as far as 14-40 Rotella, dello 400 and mobil one they are all non energy conserving oils good to go. the reason I use Rotella synthenic is that it goes in the truck and the wifes car as well, one oil to deal with and the bike uses so little it gets the left overs.

Thanks. I use Shell Rotela T 15-40w in my yz250f, just wanted to make sure it didn't use 80w or something different

I mix half 10w40 Havoline and half Ford type F in the tranny. Good results so far.
On a different note, I used Delvac 1300 super 15w40 and Rotella T 15w40 dino in my 2001 DRZ400. I never had any oil related problems, or any problems at all. I re-ringed it when I did the base gasket and the piston looked in good shape with 3000 miles on it. No scoring, black residue, etc.
The heavy deisel oils don't make my shifting worth a darn in my street bike though, Kawasaki ZRX1100. I use straight Havoline 10w40 in that and love it.
