Cheap Amazon/Chinese KLX rack on my KDX

Hey all,
Just wanted to share a little experiment that I made trying to install an cheap Amazon KLX rack on my KDX.

Heres the rack. $60 on Amazon:

So, there's no cheap rack option for the KDX200/220! After some research, it sounded like the KLX racks would work on the KDX 200. So I took a chance... I took one of the included aluminum spacers that are designed to hold the rear of the rack UP, and cut one in half, and made two spacers that made this fit the width of the KDX where it catches the seat mount bolts. This rack (and the KLX) subframes are slightly wider than the KDX. So, making these two little spacers made it fit perfectly! In the attached picture, I hadn't yet modified the spacer to make the rack fit perfectly.

As for the height of the rack where it catches the rear fender and rear of subframe, I didn't need it to sit as high as the spacers would make it sit, so I cut the second spacer in half as well (I made four spacers out of the two provided), and it ended up making a perfect rack for my KDX, that was not intended for, or marketed for the KDX.

So, if any other KDX 200/220 owners are wanting a cheap rack to fit their bikes, I reccomend this one, if you don't mind a little project. Oh, I also had to drill two new holes into the rack, to align with my rear fender/subframe mount holes. Even if you had to buy this rack and a $20-$30 hacksaw, it's still a good option, a fun little project, and a final outcome that I was very pleased with. I didn't see any other options anywhere near this price range, so I thought that I would share.

If anyone cares, I could take a closer picture. This is what I have, though.

Bravo! That's the same rack I've had since January 2022. I placed thin gauge sheet steel and feet under the rack to reinforce it for filled gas can weight. The large flathead bolts used on the rack surface are called elevator bolts. They were selected because they have flat head that covers relatively large area.

Not shown is rubber tubing added to rack perimeter to cushion gas can.
