cross model rear brake rotor and carbon pipe guard

Hi guys,
I'm working on a KDX project and was looking for a solid rear disc rotor due to my experience using these compared to slotted or drilled rotors when riding in the mud. The solid rotor made a huge difference in pad wear...or the lack of it. However I can't seem to find a solid rotor anymore. I'm guessing that the KDX bolt pattern must be the same as another model but have no way of knowing what model it might be. I recall Moose racing made this solid rotor but of course they no longer make it. Any thoughts on this?

I also had owned several E-Line carbon pipe guards that no longer are made either. Do you guys know of any carbon pipe guard that might fit the FMF Desert/Rev pipe for the KDX?

Thanks guys!
C

Last time I talked to Jeff Fredette he still carried solid rear rotors. Might be able to help with the guard too.

Just get a solid rotor from a KLX250 or something.

ahh thanks guys. No FRP doesn't carry them anymore either.
So do you guys know what model year of the KLX would fit the KDX?

Hi guys.
Thanks for your input but I can't find the solid rotor anywhere. I recall on my 96 200 and 98 220 I believe it was a Moose Racing rotor I was using. My understanding is that this was only available from the aftermarket world not as an OEM part. If I'm correct I think I'm out of luck.
Jeff F. Doesn't have the rotor or pipe guard on his website but I'm going to call him to confirm this.

Thanks guys
C

For what it’s going to cost you if you do find a solid rotor anyways, you’re better off just sticking with the stock one. Brake pads for the KDX are like $7. Just change them more often if you feel that you need to.

Yup. Just make sure you're using semi-metallic pads as they live with the mud better than organics.

Definitely call Jeff, he probably has 50% or less of his stuff on his website. Last time I was up there I think he didn’t have the solid rotor in stock but was expecting some.

I’ve been running these stupid cheap $8 pads from RMCATV.com for a couple years … they have both front and rear and seem to work fine. They don’t look like the picture.

Yep, great affordable pads. Been running them for a few years now and my buddy has even longer.

I like those pads also. Considering you don't have to remove the front or rear wheel to change brake pads, these would be much easier and cheaper vs the solid rotor.
