Top end swap?!

Hello fellow KDXers:
Question: Is it OK to swap my KDX top ends? Both are 2004.
On KDX #1, I did a complete engine rebuild. But its proving to still have have bottom end problems but the top end is fresh. (Newly replated cylinder, new piston and rings.)
KDX #2 has a tight bottom end, but top end is average at best (rings are shot, cylinder could use a replate, no scoring but some blotchy patches on cylinder wall.
Can't afford to replate KDX #2's cylinder right now, but could do new piston and rings. But seems to run fine just not as zippy as it could be.
Just doing a top end swap would match up the best bottom end with best top end. And would be the cheapest option for now. I can always rebuild bad kdx top end later on.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
