Engine Year Identification

Hello all,

I recently purchased a 1989 XK125 with a KDX200 engine.
The stamp on the engine case is KHI DX200 EE 005352
So it's obviously an E series from somewhere between 1989 to 1994, but is there a way to tell which year it is from the engine code?

Any help would be appreciated!

Your best bet is to sign up on kdxrider.net. There's a guy on there with the dealer manual "Model Recognition Manual". He'll use that manual to tell you that the engine came from ...

1989 . :boogie:

1990 frames start at 6000, so I assume the engine is from 1989. I "THINK" there are a couple of things unique to 1989 as far as fit and maybe function, meaning only a 1989 part will work. I know that there are a few changes from 1989 to 1994. Water pump seal design, power valve design are a couple I can remember.

Look on here to see the part numbers for whatever area of the engine you are working on. By clicking on the part number, you can see which models came with that part. If it says 1989 only, then it may have been replaced with a different design the following year(s). The newer part rarely will fit, but there are rare times that it will. Ask before buying a part that does not say 1989 on the model fit intformation.
