Hello all. I'm new to the forum and the KDX community. I've got a 1983 KDX200 that is definitely a project bike. Everything is pretty much in pieces. I'm trying to get some help on knowing where everything goes and what parts are interchangeable between years. Currently in trying to figure out where to route the clutch, throttle and brake cable. If someone could give me some pictures that'd be great. Also what can I use for the exhaust gasket/ o ring. Recommendation on things to look out for and stuff. I stated it up and had a run away so either the carb is clogged or some air leak somewhere so I need to do a leak down check. I did purchase a service manual and it's on the way. Thanks in advance.

If you click on the part number, there is a page that shows which other models had that same part. That is not to say another part might not work, but mostly it is. For example, if they used a different color part the next year, it would have a different part number.

Thanks. Do you know if the 1984 exhaust and muffler fit the 1983?

I’m not sure either but 83-85 are the “A” model.
Most parts on the C,E,and H models are interchangeable within each model.

The 84 model pipe will probably fit your 83 but to be sure you could look at parts diagrams and see if the two years list the same part number.

What did it show when you looked at the diagrams?

83-85 A models are basically the same bike. Just scroll to the right on their chart. Way to the right. It has a lot of info about all KDX models.

All thanks for the info. Goofaroo thanks for that link that'll help a lot. I was looking at the part numbers and the 84 had an A at the end and one extra gasket/ o ring. I'll post pictures of the new exhaust and anything I have to do to it.

That's the reference number. Go to the parts listing and click on the 12345-6789 number, not look at the 12345 portion.
