Will an E series seat fit my 2001 KDX 220 or do I have to find an H series ?

Just found one for $40 on ebay. Going to cut it down a little so me feet touch :)

Get the suspension lowered. Keep the KDX Kouch nice and fluffy. Jackhammering through bumps while sitting might make you question the seat trimming. :-)

Agreed, my H seat is in great condition, but, it's so soft, on rutty woods trails, my butt bumps right through to the plastic seat pan pratically. The foam is way soft.

Want to keep the original seat original and the have an option to mod seat on a replacement. Want to ride the bike some before I make any big money decisions like lowering the suspension. I've read that the Koda links are not the best way to go because they change the geometry of the bike.

clubcar, how is the seat experiment working out? I want to decrease seat height (thickness) on 1999 KDX 220. If you've done it, what did you cut the foam with? I'm thinking about razor blade, electric carving knife, hack saw blade, other. Also, can you pass along any tips about cutting the foam?

billie; I purchased lowering links and it really messed with the handling. I haven't done anything with the "new" seat yet. I'm going to replace the original links and work with a friend to dial in my suspension and learn to ride "high".

If you’re bumping your bottom you don’t need less foam, you need new, firmer foam. Or better yet, stand up.
Or even better yet, both.

So I rode a few times with the Kobi lowering links. Lowered the forks etc... The bike handles like sh*t. Went back to original links and softened the rear and ride on my tip toes. Much more stable feeling.

Just for the record, when I mentioned "get it lowered", that was not explained well. I was meaning to place travel limiting spacers inside the forks and shock.

Yup, to lower a suspension properly you have to have the forks and shock shortened internally. All external methods end up doing what you found... making the bike handle like crap.
