Can I run this slide or do I need a new one?

I am cleaning the carb on my 01 220 and saw this chip on the top of the slide. Can I still run it or do I need a new one? I'm going to replace the reeds too and was thinking of going with the boyeson dual stage power reeds. Any experience with them? thanks

Make sure there are no burrs that could potentially impact the action of the slide. Other than that you should be ok. From my reading the 607 reeds are popular for the KDX.

Can you? Yes.

Should you? :-)

Take extra care to grind and sand away the divot. The area around it looks really scratched up like it had been ingesting dirt / sand for a while. Check your carb bore surface.

My cable dust boot was cracked and I ride through a lot of mud and puddles. Apparently, it got into the carb over time.

I hope your cylinder walls and piston sides (and main bearings / small end / big end bearing) don't look the same.
