Hi, I’m the proud owner of a 2003 kdx220r. I love it so much that I’ve decided I want a restored (or low hr) kdx200 to go with my 220. It looks mint (he wrote meant lol) and supposedly runs great. What do you experts think?? It was $2900, now $2500. What do y’all think of the the price?? I’d like some help on what to look for on a “restored” 1997 kdx200.
Thanks

A new 1997 KDX 200 cost $4299. I think he is asking a little too much for a 23 year old mc myself. Cost should be around $2000 if the mc was near perfect. New plastics, paint, and graphics are nice, but do not make it run any better. All internal engine work should be backed up with receipts. It does look nice, but I would really give it a good once over before I thought about making an offer. Remember, buyer beware!! Good Luck!!

Looks a little over restored to me, but if I wanted it, I'd buy it.

I’d take too. I don’t know much about them tbh. I just like the kdx 200/220 reliability. But that added power would be fun.

SS109, face book links

freride, welcome to kdxrider.net, by the way. I hear you on the 200 / 220. There is a 2006 in KY.

Hmm, I'm not seeing any links either. Weird. Must be some sort of blocker in my browser.

I also saw this 1997 kdx200 for $1400. A little over an hour away. New plastics might go a long way. For the price, if it runs good I’m seriously considering it. Around
$1500 USD is about bottom dollar for a full size good running used bike where I’m from.

Skip that one!

The silencer from apparently a KX80 speaks to the level of love and care it received.

'Rode hard, put up wet' as we used to say out on the range. Painted plastics are never a good sign and there's sme other things going on in that picture that scream 'STAY AWAY!'.

A too of the hat to Twisted Root. LOL

if we think it looks right now, wait until the swingarm is parallel to the ground, its tightest point of chain tension

Guess I won’t be getting a KDX for Christmas. However, there is a 94 wr250 for $2k that looks nice. Concerned about parts availability tho

I would really check on parts availability. KDXs being very similar for several years within the model family helps out a lot on used parts.

Do you think a kdx250 would give me parts trouble?

Yes, some. Most any 25+ year old dirt bike will.

Even the 1995 - 2006 KDX200 has a few discontinued parts.
