1996 2oo, wondering why the left side of the front axle has threads on the inside of the axle.

Hi. Welcome to kdxrider.net.

Are you asking because it is a "in theory" question, or do you possibly have the wrong axle (mom-stock)?

Just curious because it is threaded 8 x 1.25, and there is nothing noted in any parts diagram. Must have been part of the manufacturing process is my guess.

Do your forks look like this?

I believe so, but that doesn't show the axle in question. There is nothing wrong with my axle, I was just wondering about the thread on the inside of it.

Mine has a threaded ID too. '97 H Series 220. I haven't checked the part number and where used, so may have other applications. Suspect this feature is a hold over from another or previous design.

My bad. Apparently, I can't read sometimes. :-)

Maybe it was useful in manufacturing or it could hold a fork / disc guard??

Thank you, I kept rereading my question thinking I described it wrong. Disc guard, could be, I would have never thought of that.
