I'm trying to source a 92081-1527....

I cannot find it anywhere. I think I have lost mine. I will try digging through parts (and maybe even the trash) again.

I had to disassemble the cylinder/jug to have it replated. I'm guessing I lost this piece to my garage floor.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have my cylinder/jug back and I'm ready to reassemble, but this is holding me up at the moment!

Its just a small ball bearing nothing rocket science about that If you cant order one anymore ask someone to measure theres and you can get a whole bad of them on ebay for next to nothing, I will take mine out if you like and I will measure it for you if you need

I appreciate that, but it is the spring that I am short on, not the ball.

It's not absolutely necessary to have the ball and spring. I think it's only purpose is to reduce the KIPS rattle but I could be wrong. Sure doesn't look to do anything of significance. Mine was missing when I did my top end and the bike ran fine.

I have to agree these parts don't seem to do a great deal I inspected them closely when I had my cylinder replated and I really didn't see a big indention in the shaft for the ball to rest in, But its best to put it back Its kind of like your splean you can live with out it but why try, Again a good hardware store should have something you can make work , that is in case you cant find the original one online. Im not sure exactly what the parts availability is these days on these bikes I hope they have plenty in a warehouse somewhere because I love mine and plan to have it for a long long while!!

That spring and ball are there to delay the rotation of the Kips shaft. Remove one or both washers and Kips activation occurs at higher RPM's. Modern bikes have power valve screws where you can fine tune the activation of the power valve. If you are happy with early Kips activation, there's no need for the ball and spring. Oh, and check the bolt. Sometimes the spring is just stuck up in it.

I saw that Jeff Fresette recommended removing the ball and spring. I did on my 220 and it runs noticeably better. The powerband comes on a little sooner but it's nothing drastic. Definitely don't let it stop you from assembling and running the bike. You can always put it in once you get a new one. Hopefully it's still in the bolt like Eric mentioned.

I tried to order from partzilla a few days ago. The order was cancelled :(. I'm guessing they are lacking stock just like the other company I ordered from. I'd still like to source this part if at all possible.

I had forgotten about that. Probably why I left it out and my bike runs great.

I took mine out years ago. Power comes in a bit quicker.

Okay. I'm going to admit to it. I started looking at parts and putting things back together today.

I had the spring all along. It was inside the hollow bolt.... where it was supposed to be...

I disagree with comments made about the ball and spring it's there to hold the kips closed and stop it rattling which in turn stops excessive wear of the valve train, when you take the kips side cover off, if you can see the shaft rocking while the engine is idling then that needs to be fixed, one of the ways I stopped the kips rattle was the hollow bolt was slightly ovaled, I put in a slightly larger bearing to take up the slack

The KIPS rattle is something that Kawasaki didn't seem too worried about or they would have done something better to keep it from doing so. And, as evidenced from countless KDX's, over countless hours, and 21 years, the KIPS system on the '95+ bikes hold up very well with the rattle.

Yes but 21 years with no spring and ball bearing is a different story, kawasaki never said remove them

I'll take my chances. I've got 4 years on mine without issue. If it fails then I'll definitely make it known here on the forum.
