A great way to refinish your frames to last forever...?

I just redone a frame on an 86 KDX 200. Also working on a Yamaha AT2 as well but I thought I would share a method that I think may be better than paint or powder coat. First I had my frame sandblasted. Then I got a rattle can of Eastwood interior frame rust encapsulator and coated frame inside and out. It came with an extension spray hose to get way up inside frame. I watched alot of Youtube vids about rust encapsulators before finally choosing Eastwood. Then I brushed on Eastwood exterior Platinum Rust Encapsulator. It looked surprisingly awesome for being brushed on and I was able to thoroughly cover any hard to get to spots with a small brush that would have been a chore if only spraying. I was planning next to prime, paint and clearcoat but then got to thinking. It would be much easier to sand any future chips or scrapes and dab on more rust encapsulator with a brush, sand and clearcoat. Easy frame maintenance! So instead of painting I sprayed on Duplicolor high heat 500 degree engine enamel clearcoat. I chose the Duplicolor instead of VHT cause no special curing process was required. Rustoleum makes one as well that requires no special curing process.Another note the Eastwood exterior Platinum Rust Encapsulator can serve as the top coat or can be top coated. I chose to topcoat for extra heat protection as alone it says 350 degrees which is probably enough but I tend to overkill. The frame looks great. Just thought I would share.

Your welcome. Yep I just signed up on yamaha-enduro site the other day. I posted this there too. The AT-2 is a friend of mines bike. Doing some work on it for Her. One of them Vintage Yamaha's are definitely on my buy list though. My first bike when I was 8 was a DT80. Loved that little bike, made me sad to grow up. I posted this there too. I'll check out the Spray Max 2K, Thankyou.

Hate to break it to you but no way that paint will hold up. Its way too soft and the amount of microns in negligible

That could be true but I doubt it. The adhesion and coverage with 1 coat seemed pretty incredible as opposed to other stuff I tried. I not only did the frame but also foot pegs, engine brackets and bolt heads and barely used a quarter of that small can You see there in the pic. I will be the guinea pig and keep everybody informed as I go.

For long distance and double up, Goldwing.
Its a tossup on the vintage street bikes, but I lean toward the Norton. Nice power, smooth and sounds great.
The DT360 is heavy, but good when I have to ride off the trail and hit the street.
Ive only ridden the KDX around my daughters property.
