Carb adjustment screws - not to be dumb but...

So what does the upper #1 screw do vs #2? I thought #2 was the pilot adjustment and used for idle adjustment. Is #1 supposed to move the throttle plate itself? Sorry to be so confused.

When I turn #1 on my KDX it seems to do very little. (This pic is from someone else’s pictures). Mine idles way too low and stalls a lot. I really should take the whole carb off and clean it.

upper is idle

lower is air screw

Boom. Get the air screw set back to stock position and work from there

zip tie on carb to engine boot
wrong screw on airbox to carb boot clamp
no clamp on lower end of fuel hose to carb
blue silly cone (which generally is not gasoline proof) used on reed cage to engine junction

I am glad the pictured bike is not yours!

Thanks all!

Yes, I was in a hurry and grabbed a pic from the internet ;-) Mine is a 2006 I bought off a guy...though it needs a thorough going through too.
