Welcome to kdxrider. The last time I looked, no one sold a full kit. I did gather the pieces and sell kits on occasion. Selling three every two years let me learn from people to stop doing that.

Look up Technical Touch if you want Japanese, OEM level quality. They used to sell parts through Tucker and Western Power Sports distributors. They are an official KYB distibutor, not All Balls or PivotWorks. If you want the cheap parts, then I can't help too much besides saying All Balls or PivotWorks sells some of the parts, I think.

I suggest the following new KYB parts:

nut
seal head (and outer o-ring)
bottom bumper
bladder
piston band (44 mm)
piston o-ring (44 mm)

Did you look on Tucker or Western Power Sports?? It's in their catalogs.

I found the KYB 44 mm piston band and o-rings will these parts definitely fit my piston? Also what brand shock comes on the bike?

So I tracked down all the parts I need I'm just not sure of what size lock nut I need to use for that shock

If you can, compare what you have to what you see on the internet (for example, for sale on eBay) to make sure you have the correct shock. You can post pics here as well.

KYB is the OEM manufacturer. Kawasaki paid KYB to make the shocks (and forks) for them.

Can you post a part number on the band and o-ring? It uses just one o-ring.

KYB makes a lock nut. Technical Touch sells it.

Why is it so hard to find parts for these bikes I think I'm about to switch to KTM for instance you can get a wrench rabbit or hot rods complete bottom end rebuild kit for just about any bike but when it comes to the KDX you're screwed you literally have to source every part individually

It's 12mm x 1.5 mm.

I give up. Why is it so hard??

Have fun going orange.

Don't get me wrong I love the KDX for trail riding but when I do hear scrambles it's just a little too heavy and tall for me I'm 5 foot 7 135 lb I drove my buddies xc-w 200 and it felt like I was on a 125 the way it handled there's no comparison the KDX just feels heavy and clunky when I am racing

I’d go look at a blue 125YZX before turning into a pumpkin myself. Probably be making parts for these for the next 25 yrs!

Buy a complete new seal head. The stock seal head is not rebuildable, even though the individual seal parts are available through KYB / vendors etc.

It is rebuildable, after 800 whacks to get the peened end flared out enough to remove and install parts. I hope no one is ever that desperate to do it!  :naughty:

I’m talking about the seal head itself. You rebuilt that?! I spent $13 on a new seal head because it wasn’t worth the effort to me.

OH HECK NO!! I have never been that desperate. Ha ha.

I was indeed talking about the seal head. The KX seal heads up until 1998?? are like that, too. Thankfully, the last 20 years of full-sized KX's have the aluminum seal heads.

Would you happen to have a Technical Touch part number for the seal head that you've used previously? Their catalog doesn't show fitment for a KDX. I called them and they said they would need measurements from my old one. I haven't taken it out yet. Just trying to source everything before I take it apart.
Thank you.

Ha ha! I just came on the site to make a post about selling kits again.

I have sourced all the parts and got them shipped in this week. I'll make a post in the "For Sale" subforum. Thanks.
