Can anybody tell me if the rear sock seal head is rebuildable, on my Kdx220. Do I have to order it as a complete unit from a motorcycle specific store or can it be bought at bearing stores or can it be pulled apart and the individual seals replaced. It will be my first time rebuilding a shock. I know they can be ordered online but trying to avoid paying import taxes here in Thailand

I tried to do mine and I’d highly recommend replacing it as a unit. It was a PITA

I also tried to do mine but some seals are pressed inside the shock seal head, you can get the seal out (by almost destroying it) but can't get a new one in.

As you rebuilt your shock think about replacing your shock bumper

The problem is that the seal head is peened over at the bottom. It would be a nightmare to undo the peening to replace the oil seal, bushing and top out bumper. The dust seal can be replaced from the top. I STRONGLY recommend buying complete seal heads for a KDX shock.

Yep. Looks like way too much trouble to unpeen. Will order it.

It’s annoying enough having to grind the peeling off the shock shaft without screwing that up. But messing with that seal head was much harder. Mine was 30 bucks.
