New carb or not?

I am considering purchasing a new carburetor for my 05 KDX 200. JD Jetting has a Keihin PWK AS 38 with jet kit for $259 + shipping. My mc came with a 35. This seems like a good buy, but do I need or want the 38? The 36 is a higher price, so I wonder which is the better value. I should know this but I have never purchased a carburetor before. Thanks!!

My KTM 300 has a 36MM carb. I wouldn't put anything larger than stock on it. The larger the carb, the less low end power you get.

I wouldn't put a 38 on a KDX.

Are you running flat out everywhere? If not, stock 35. BE SURE to check the slide and jets it comes with. Buying a slide and jets will bump the price up quickly. See if they can swap out the standard slide and jets for KDX size.

RB modded carb is an option too.

The 36 and 38 are about 15mm taller plus the carb inlet and outlet bells are considerably larger. Stretching the boots with heat or boiling water and cramming one of those onto a KDX would be a pain in the butt, and I think the height wouldn't even work. I would call and ask JD about selling you a new 35 with their KDX jet kit. You never know unless you ask. They used to list new 35's not that long ago. If not that then a new 35 from jets r us would be my next choice.
