Fork conversion or other options

Hi guys I have a 2004 Kdx220r. I weigh about 150 lbs. would I be better off for the money putting kx forks on, or just getting the stock ones re-valved and re-sprung? Looking to make the suspension stiffer and more nimble for a little bit of track usage but also keep it good in trails. Looking to get into hare scrambles this summer.

Have you read up on the KLX fork swap?
In general, I don't think putting that much money into the stock forks is a good way to go for someone who is looking to hit the MX track some and race a little out in the woods.

Haven’t read anything about it, only the kx swaps. I just got on this forum.

KLX forks
KLX triple clamps
KLX brake hose (or homemade KDX hose run and mounting)
1995+ KDX wheel and axle are the same, I think

avoiding a stem swap is the number one thing
otherwise, price and complexity

The KLX forks are much stiffer (my biggest problem with the stock forks is the flex) and an easier fit. However, finding '96-'98 KX forks are fairly cheap and aren't that hard to fit. Do a stem swap, swap out springs and maybe shorten them internally, mount a KX wheel, and go riding. I will never ride on factory KDX forks again.
